I have followed Trayvon’s case closely and I think any compassionate human being can relate to Trayvon as a brother or son and would want to see a thorough investigation into the killing of an unarmed person. In my portrait I wanted to emphasize Trayvon’s humanity as well as the public outcry for a just investigation into his death.
Gacias!
This April I was invited by the “collective tomato” to paint a mural on a recovery project Xanenetla neighborhood, a neighborhood with lots of history to Mexico in the city of Puebla. It was a good opportunity to return to Mexico.
”Elotl” in pre-Hispanic Nahuatl language, corn (maize cob) is thestaple food of this nation, I wanted to join the family idea how strongis palpable here, making each grain a person or animal, as a unit of a set. For some time I kept this idea to represent Mexico.
This mural I want to dedicate to all neighbors of Xanenetla andespecially my grandmother and my friend Raul (Carcomedhi) who are going through difficult times.
To thank Paola, collective Tomato, all members of the Collective, Laura Youth Institute of Puebla, Puebla Bauhaus school, all the artists who participated in the project and all the neighbors of someso are contributors to this mural and many others who were in the neighborhood. Gracias!
Hush recently painted this awesome matryoshka doll in Melbourne, where he’s preparing for his next exhibition scheduled for May at the Metro Gallery.
Visit Arrested Motion to view a few more process photos of the artist at work on this beautiful piece.
Roa, one of our all-time favourite street artists, painted this awesome alligator somewhere in the wilds of Atlanta, Georgia last August, 2011.
